Embarking on this fantastic journey from Montreux was a delight. Riding the renowned cogwheel train, we leaned back, unwinding, and soaking in the breathtaking, undulating landscapes. In under an hour, we reached the summit, greeted by additional spectacular views spanning mountains, valleys, and the lake.
The cog rail journey to the top and back was truly pleasurable. At the summit, we dedicated an extra two hours to hiking, enjoying a picnic, and concluding our visit with a beverage at the summit snack bar. Needless to say, the weather was superb during our autumn exploration. Even if hiking isn't your preference, I believe you'll find this excursion thoroughly enjoyable. In our view, it makes for an excellent family activity.
My visit in August (peak season) coincided with a train full of tourists. Upon reaching Rochers-de-Naye, the rationale behind its popularity became evident. The scenery is exceptionally beautiful, featuring mountains, cliffs, flowers, and plants – a combination I had never encountered before. As Rochers-de-Naye is a mountainous area with unpredictable weather, it's imperative to carry a raincoat. Avoid deploying an umbrella; the strong winds could potentially lead to being blown and tumbling from the cliff.
